Job Purpose:
The IT Assistant Manager supports the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s IT infrastructure, ERP systems, and cloud technologies. This role plays a key part in ensuring secure, efficient, and scalable technology solutions that align with evolving business needs—supporting software, hardware, data systems, and end-user services across multiple regional sites.
Job Responsibilities
- ERP System & Business Applications
- Serve as the technical lead for SYSPRO ERP, including system maintenance, user support, configuration, and process optimization.
- Collaborate with business users to analyze, document, and implement enhancements to meet operational requirements.
- Coordinate with consultants on ERP projects, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain user manuals and provide end-user training.
- Cloud Technologies & Data Management
- Support the integration and optimization of cloud-based systems (e.g., Microsoft 365, SharePoint, cloud backup).
- Participate in cloud migration planning, ensuring data integrity, availability, and security.
- Monitor cloud services usage, recommend improvements, and manage user access.
- Infrastructure & Systems Administration
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Servers, desktops, networking devices (Cisco routers/switches), printers, and VOIP systems.
- Perform system upgrades, patch management, and regular backups.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a multi-site environment (Malaysia, China, and Australia).
- Manage Active Directory, user access rights, group policies, and shared resources.
- Maintain inventory and health of IT hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, switches, routers, and UPS units.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement and support basic cybersecurity protocols including firewall, antivirus, multi-factor authentication, and endpoint protection.
- Monitor network and systems for security vulnerabilities or unauthorized access.
- Support IT compliance initiatives and internal audits.
- Data Reporting & Business Intelligence
- Assist in generating and supporting reports or dashboards using Power BI, Crystal Reports, or similar tools connected to SYSPRO or other business systems.
- Ensure accuracy, accessibility, and security of reporting data.
- IT Support & Service Delivery
- Respond to and manage end-user IT support tickets, escalating where necessary.
- Maintain service documentation, SOPs, IT asset inventory, and license tracking.
- Ensure prompt and professional resolution of system and hardware issues.
- Team Leadership & Project Management
- Plan and execute IT projects with clear milestones and timelines.
- Guide and support junior IT staff and coordinate with vendors or consultants.
- Ensure all documentation, diagrams, and records are updated regularly.
- May supervise IT Officers or junior IT team members.
- Automation & Innovation
- Identify opportunities for process automation through scripting (e.g., PowerShell).
- Propose and implement cost-effective and innovative technology solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure, ERP system support, or software implementation.
- Hands-on experience with SYSPRO ERP or other integrated business systems.
- Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Office 365), network systems, Windows Server environments, and user support.
- Good understanding of cybersecurity best practices, system monitoring, and secure data handling.
- Familiar with BI tools like Power BI or Crystal Reports (advantageous).
- Experience with ITIL practices or structured helpdesk/ticketing systems is preferred.
- Basic scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, batch files) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Fluent in English, with good written and verbal communication.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to overseas facilities (e.g., Beijing) as needed
- Certifications (Preferred): Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), ITIL Foundation Certification (desirable) & (Alternatively, 5 years of experience in lieu of certifications)
