About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Pastry Chef to join our catering production team at Legumes Catering. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, preparing, and executing a range of desserts – both Western-inspired and Malaysian favourites – that elevate our buffet and event menus.
You’ll work closely with our kitchen team to ensure smooth production, consistent quality, and creative presentation that aligns with our brand’s commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and produce desserts, cakes, and pastries for daily catering orders and special events
- Innovate new dessert ideas that pair well with Western and Malaysian main dishes
- Maintain quality, portion control, and presentation for large-volume production
- Collaborate with chefs and kitchen team on menu design and food styling
- Ensure hygiene, food safety, and Halal compliance (training provided)
- Prepare mise en place and manage baking inventory efficiently
- Support occasional live stations and festive catering projects
Requirements:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in pastry or dessert production (hotel/catering/bakery background preferred)
- Familiar with both Western-style desserts and Malaysian traditional kuih or sweets
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, temperature control, and ingredient handling
- Able to scale recipes and produce for large quantities without compromising quality
- Team player with a positive attitude and initiative
- Knowledge of HACCP, ISO22000, or Halal practices is an advantage
