Wastewater Management: Supervise the daily operations of wastewater treatment plants, ensuring that all systems are functioning efficiently. Oversee wastewater sampling, monitoring, and testing for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Manage chemical dosing systems and ensure the proper handling and storage of chemicals. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues related to wastewater treatment processes. Maintain accurate records of wastewater treatment processes, including volumes treated, chemical usage, and effluent quality. Coordinate with environmental engineers and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental standards. Ensure all wastewater treatment equipment is properly maintained, performing regular inspections and initiating repairs as needed. Safety Management: Develop, implement, and enforce health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Monitor and manage the implementation of safety controls and corrective actions. Provide safety training to all staff on emergency procedures, safety equipment, and safe work practices. Investigate accidents or incidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective measures to prevent future occurrences. Ensure the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety measures across the team. Oversee compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and other relevant safety regulations. Collaboration & Reporting: Work closely with maintenance teams, plant operators, and management to ensure efficient wastewater treatment and a safe working environment. Prepare detailed reports on safety performance and wastewater system performance for senior management. Assist with the preparation and review of health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards. Participate in emergency response planning and drills. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental laws, and safety best practices. Understanding of health and safety regulations and risk management. Ability to work in an industrial or outdoor setting. Exposure to hazardous materials and chemicals; adherence to safety protocols is required. Ability to work in rotating shifts, weekends, or emergency situations as needed.
