About the Team:
The Fulfilment tech family is one of the most important pillars enabling Grab to out-serve our customers and partners in different businesses and marketplaces across Southeast Asia. We are working on high throughput, real-time distributed systems that use machine learning techniques to solve hundreds of millions of requests per day. Our mission is to offer the best products and experiences to our driver partners as to increase adoption and engagement of our services. Improve driver partner opportunities and efficiency to fulfil customer orders without fail, rain or shine. And to create efficient marketplaces by determining an price that is both sustainable and loved by our partners and customers.
Allocation is one of Fulfilment Tech Family's empowered teams with goals to match drivers with orders in the most efficient way that benefits the network and provides high reliability for users' booking experience. The Allocation team has a wide range of products like priority allocation, back to back jobs, allocation swaps, booking state management, allocation engine, and so on. Our team members are in Malaysia and Singapore.

We are looking for experienced & passionate Engineers to join our team. You will have opportunities to work on multiple backend service clusters and participate in building machine learning pipelines. You will report to the Senior Software Engineering Manager, Fulfilment with hybrid working in Malaysia. It is very important that our team members take the initiatives to identify problems and have the right mindset and skills to solve them.

Get To Know The Role

The Critical Tasks You will Perform
- You will design and write with the latest GO language to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Grab's range of services
- You will participate in service capacity and demand planning, software performance analysis, tuning, and optimization
- You will work with infrastructure team in building and scaling back-end services and performing root cause analysis investigations
- You will work with mobile team to build reusable modularized mobile components utilising scalable APIs
- You will collaborate with product and experience teams to finalise feature specifications, build prototype and design experiments.
- You will work with different engineering teams to explore and create new design/architectures geared towards scale and performance
- You will participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards
- You will join oncall rotations to debug production issues and improve system stability.
What Essential Skills You will Need
- We're looking for someone who has spent at least working experience on backend development for at least 1 years
- You will have computer science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures
- You are well-versed familiarity with running large-scale distributed web or api services; understanding of systems internals and networking and hands-on familiarity with database and at least one data query languages like mysql or Presto
- You are familiar and have experience on cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure and understanding of testing frameworks for unit testing, integration testing and E2E testing
- You have knowledge and hands-on familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for system development and deployment
- You can be a good coder in any language (C++, C, Java, Scala, Rust, Haskell, OCaml, Erlang, Python, Ruby, PHP, Node.JS, C#), but willing to work on Golang
