"A Comprehensive Database of Antarctica Cold-Adapted Enzymes for Sustainable Bioprospecting"
This in silico project will involve a systematic literature review of Antarctica research, with particular interest in cold-adapted enzymes and Malaysian researchers’ contributions. The student will perform bibliometric analysis and curate all the sequences for sequence analysis, structure-function analysis, and database construction.
*The successful candidate must enroll in the PhD programme at INBIOSIS, UKM. The ideal candidate should have a strong molecular biology background and experience in sequence analysis with great interests in big data analytics and structural bioinformatics.
Perks:
Opportunity for a funded 3-week research attachment at the National Institute of Genetics, Japan
Monthly stipend: RM1,800 for 3 years (1 Oct 2024-30 Sep 2027)
Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Science / Computer Science / Bioinformatics
Interests in bibliometric analysis, molecular biology, industrial biotechnology, computational biology, bioinformatics, and/or database development
Diligent & determined to work independently on a research topic for 3 years
For international students: CEFR>=B2; TOEFL >=550 / IELTS >=6 with good scientific writing skills
