The Tooling Engineer is responsible for delivering and sustaining good quality Stamping Die to achieve high productivity with zero defects. This position will be leading the improvement of existing tooling issues, coordinating with the design team on new tooling design and debug.
Leadership of projects such as product transfers, adding capacity, new tooling and replacement tooling.
What You Will Do
- Ensure production tools operate at peak efficiency and meet customer requirements.
- Delegate troubleshooting and die maintenance responsibilities in a clear and concise manner.
- Assist Toolmaker to make quality and tooling related decisions for long term solutions.
- Consistently address problems and make/implement solutions to improve tooling efficiencies and quality.
- Lead in analyzing and identifying continuous improvement opportunity to increase efficiencies, reduce scrap and maintain product quality.
- Work with tooling designers to develop new and more efficient dies to replace aging tooling.
- Purchase and manage tooling spares according to budget without sacrificing product quality.
- Prepare justification on investment and expenses budgets for additional, modification, replacement and new tooling.
- Leading and qualifying of any new product transfer.
- Bachelor’s Degree in tool and die maker with 3 years or more of experience in manufacturing engineering with an emphasis on metal stamping with progress, precision and high-speed die.
- Able to read drawing and perform calculation using shop math (trigonometry /geometry) to determine angle, bolt circles, hole opening position, flat pattern development, bend radius, and any others calculation needed to build a tool.
- Proficient with manufacturing design software (Siemens NX, CAD/CAM, SolidWorks, etc…)
- Time management and analysis skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability is required.
- Multitasking and teamwork skills.
- Effective skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships with peers and cross functional team.
- Qualify in Six Sigma Green Belts.
- Experience in Stamping die for terminal pin.
- Understanding of tooling design concept.
- Able to operate all tools and machinery ( ie mills, lathes, hand grinders, drill presses, tapping machines, blet sanders, surface grinders and all handheld tools used in manufacturing of production tools).
- Language Skills
- Must be able to clearly speak, read, write and understand the primary language (English) used in the workplace.
