We are looking for Director of Events Management to join our team!

  • This is a Clustered postion for Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang & Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang.

As our Director of Events Management, we rely on you to:

  • He/she directs and drives all activities of the department, with specific responsibilities for ensuring high quality standards delivered by the Team, as well as developing and implementation action plans set forth in the Marketing Plan.
  • He/She is responsible for managing the sales managers to convert positive event groups business into sales, as well as optimizing funcion space utilization to maximize event revenue to achieve the total sales revenue goals.
  • Leads and directs the team to handle and manage all imcoming groups and events inquiries in adhering to the service standards.
  • Ensure coordination between the Events Management Department and Front Lines / Back-of-House Departments.
  • Plan, implement and monitor events to make sure they run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Ensure the guests' hotel experience are of the highest standard.
  • Be familiar with the local conference and wedding banquet market and have extensive local resources.
  • Manage the daily operations and administrative tasks of the banquet and conference coordination department, including setting sales targets and implementing reward mechanisms, while ensuring the team adheres to regulations and standards.
  • Participate in market analysis, formulate sales strategies, tactics, and pricing, and lead the banquet and conference coordination team in maintaining and managing existing customers as well as acquiring new ones.
  • Supervise the sales visit plans of the banquet and conference coordination team, establish friendly relationships with guests, ensure their needs are met, and simultaneously achieve the hotel's profit goals.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Diploma, Degree or any relevant certification in the field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an international class hotel and at least 2 years working experience in a similar position.
  • Has a passion for events management.
  • Must be a confident and tactfulIs a strong team player.
  • Must be detail-focused and guest-oriented.
  • Communicates and writes with fluency in English (as well as the local language)
  • Has relevant experience in a similar capacity previously.
  • Good interpersonal & communication skill.
  • Able to engage in a friendly and professional manner with business partners and customers.
  • Enjoys being challenged.
