Job Purpose

Leads and manages AFFIN Bank Group (ABB, AIBB, AHIB, ABS, etc) Corporate Tax team, to oversee the tax compliance and planning activities for the Group, in accordance to regulatory requirements.

Accoutabilities

Oversee the Group's direct and indirect tax compliances in accordance with relevant legislation, including:

  • accurate, complete and timely submission of regulatory returns
  • reasonable tax estimates, in consultation with financial/management reporting team
  • preparation of transfer pricing documentation
  • e-Invoicing requirements and compliances
  • assess new regulatory requirements, plan and manage or execute change (where required)


Oversee the Group's tax planning activities via identification of tax opportunities and review tax implications on business transactions/activities.

Oversee tax related projects and assignments.

To continuously review and recommend improvements to increase effectiveness and efficiency in procedures, processes and quality in the area of tax compliance or tax planning.

To establish good communication with the tax authorities, relevant internal stakeholders, tax agent and external/internal auditor.

To continuously identify training and development needs of team members.

To undertake any other tasks and responsibilities assigned by superior.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree and/or professional qualification in Accounting.
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience at an established financial institution, with at least 3 years in a similar leadership role.
  • Prior experience in financial/management reporting and/or audit is an advantage.
  • Sound understanding of law/regulations, and deep industry and business knowledge with an ability to translate this into effective operational strategies and plans.
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with different levels of stakeholders and employees.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and planning skills.
  • Appreciation and balance for business needs and regulatory and risks requirements.
