Job Title: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Position Overview:

PRTR are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Operating Officer to lead the operations and strategy for our EMS client based in Malaysia, the COO will be the driving force in propelling excellence in manufacturing, cost efficiency, innovation, and overseeing day-to-day operations while spearheading initiatives in automation, quality, and product development to meet ambitious growth targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

  • Lead and manage operations across multiple manufacturing sites with a focus on efficiency, quality, and cost optimisation.
  • Oversee all aspects of EMS product manufacturing, driving continuous improvement across all business units.

Strategic Planning:

  • Guide the organisation in achieving annual objectives (BSC), including financial targets ,while ensuring a 25% year on-year sales growth.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to align operational goals with the company's long-term strategic vision.

Product Design and Development:

  • Foster the development of new products, expanding the group's design and development (D&D) capacity.
  • Drive technological innovation in production processes, ensuring that the company stays ahead of the curve in a competitive market.
  • Establish and promote a total quality management approach, with the aim of achieving zero defects and continuously lowering process-related DPM.

Customer Satisfaction:

  • Maintain positive relations with customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction by resolving issues swiftly and proactively implementing programs to enhance customer experience.
  • Implement strategies to lower backlog and improve quotation lead times.

Material and Vendor Management:

  • Drive improvements in material management processes, implementing modern techniques like VMI, JIT, and Kanban to reduce inventory levels.
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring cost competitiveness and establishing a reliable vendor base.

Cost Control and Budgeting:

  • Run cost-cutting initiatives across all products to meet customer demands for annual cost reductions.
  • Prepare, get approval for, and execute operational and capital expenditure budgets to optimise resource utilisation.

Requirements:

  • Education: Advanced degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: 10 - 15 years experience in extensive operational management within the EMS or related manufacturing sector, with a proven track record of managing large-scale, international operations.
  • Proven track record in implementing cost improvement methods and delivering on given financial targets and margin expectations.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrably leadership and communication skills, with experience managing cross-cultural teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract law and international trade terms.
  • Familiarity with modern material management and automation techniques.
