Summary of position:

The incumbent will be supporting our legal operations and ensuring the smooth execution of legal processes, working closely with our legal team and providing essential assistance in various legal matters.

Responsibilities

General

1. Collaborate with the internal departments to provide legal support and advice as needed.

2. Liaise with Group Legal to provide updates on the legal affairs of the company.

3. Provide legal awareness to the company’s employees.

4. Assist in due diligence processes and document review in support of the company’s business transactions.

5. Maintain and organize legal files, records and documentation.

6. Provide other legal and general administrative support to the legal department as needed.

Contract

1. Review third-party contracts and other legal documents in relation to the company’s business transactions, including tender/bid submissions.

2. Review, draft and update the company’s existing template contracts to align with the current needs of the business units and operational teams.

3. Draft contracts related to the company’s business, as requested by the business units.

4. Draft contractual letters, such as letters of award and letters of offer, to the company’s vendors and contractors, as requested by the internal departments.

Litigation

1. Review documentary evidence provided by the internal departments prior to any initiation of legal proceedings.

2. Request fee quotes from the company’s panel solicitors.

3. Prepare a recommendation memo to the Group Managing Director on the appointment of solicitors.

4. Review cause papers drafted by the company’s solicitors.

5. Liaise with the company’s solicitors throughout case proceedings for updates and case strategies.

6. Prepare reports on litigation cases and communicate case updates to the company’s management and the relevant stakeholders.

7. Advise the company’s management on case strategies.

Advise

1. Provide sound legal advice to the company’s management and other departments/business units as requested.

2. Conduct research on the relevant legislations and case laws before providing legal advice.

Qualifications

• Holds a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB).

• 4-5 years of post-qualification experience in a legal firm or as an in-house counsel.

• Excellent command in English and Bahasa Malaysia (verbal and written).

• Proficient in various aspects of drafting.

• Strong knowledge of legal research.

• Proficient in computer literacy, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

• Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.

• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

• Proactive and resourceful.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Adherence to ethical and professional standards.
