What You’ll Do

As the Head of Arts, Culture & Public Spaces, you'll steer impactful projects, work closely with grant partners, and create a lasting legacy in uplifting communities through innovative programs.

The role contributes to achieving Yayasan Hasanah’s Arts and Culture Pillar’s Theory of Change (TOC) and Strategic Plans via concrete and sustainable action, outcomes and impacts metrics, resource allocation, advocacy strategy, stakeholder engagement and evidence-based methodologies in accordance with Hasanah’s standards of performance, values, and accountability framework.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Lead the Arts, Culture & Public Spaces Impact Area: Shape and drive strategies in collaboration with the Strategy team and other impact areas, ensuring alignment with Yayasan Hasanah’s vision.
  • Foster Innovative Partnerships: Communicate new ideas and solutions with external partners, grantees, and internal teams to promote growth and innovation.
  • Stay Ahead of Socio-Economic Trends: Keep up with national agendas and socio-economic issues that influence Hasanah’s activities and use this knowledge to drive impactful initiatives.
  • Evaluate and Build Partnerships: Source and select credible grant partners through a robust network, setting evaluation criteria and ensuring partners meet key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Advocate for Nation Building: Develop and implement advocacy strategies that contribute to nation-building efforts, working closely with other teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Learn and Grow: Continuously assess and compile learnings for the Arts, Culture & Public Spaces sector, collaborating with the internal team to refine approaches.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other impact area heads to ensure seamless integration and alignment with Yayasan Hasanah’s corporate objectives.
  • Lead and Inspire: Provide leadership, training, and coaching to teams, fostering a culture of growth, development, and excellence.

Core Competencies

  • Stakeholder Management: Build strategic partnerships, influence high-level stakeholders, and resolve complex issues to drive policy advocacy and align with Hasanah's goals.
  • Project Management: Implement and enforce project management standards, oversee grant project portfolios, and provide strategic direction for alignment with Hasanah's objectives.
  • Business Acumen & Risk Management: Manage relationships, articulate projections, ensure excellence, and execute risk and governance frameworks.
  • Strategic Envisioning: Develop strategic plans, communicate with the Board of Trustees and stakeholders, and embed strategic goals across Hasanah’s functions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Education, or related field. (Master’s/MBA is a plus).
  • Experience: At least 15 years in the Arts and Culture sector, with 5+ years in a leadership role. Preferably in non-profit, social impact sector, or development organizations. Experience in program management, planning, policy-making, and team management is essential.
  • Understanding of key metrics and measurement principles in non-profit sector is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead and inspire teams, make sound decisions, and manage complex environments. High integrity, adaptability, and a results-driven mindset are key.

Yayasan Hasanah is an independent grant-making foundation established on 1 July 2015 with the goal of creating greater impact to complement Khazanah’s efforts in developing Malaysia into a globally competitive nation.

This is a full-time hybrid role located in Dataran PHB, Shah Alam, with flexi working arrangements.
