Job Description

Job Summary:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing the engineering team to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products and solutions. This role involves strategic planning, project management, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to drive innovation and achieve company objectives. The Engineering Manager will oversee the development and implementation of engineering best practices, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure alignment with the company’s vision and goals. A strong understanding of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies is essential to drive digital transformation and maintain a competitive edge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
    • Set clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations.
    • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Develop and execute the engineering department’s strategic plan, aligning with the company’s overall objectives.
    • Identify emerging technologies and industry trends, including 4IR technologies, to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
    • Collaborate with senior management to define product and technology roadmaps.
  • Project Management:
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Implement and maintain project management methodologies, tools, and processes.
    • Ensure effective resource allocation and utilization across projects.
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams, ensuring the adoption of best practices and high-quality standards.
    • Drive the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable and reliable systems.
    • Facilitate technical decision-making and problem-solving within the team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with product development, production, quality, planning and other engineering sites to ensure alignment and successful product delivery.
    • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
    • Represent the engineering team in executive meetings and contribute to overall company strategy.
  • Quality and Process Improvement:
    • Establish and enforce engineering best practices, standards, and processes to ensure high-quality deliverables.
    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.
    • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • 4IR Technologies:
    • Lead the integration and adoption of 4IR technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, and advanced analytics.
    • Drive digital transformation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and product innovation.
    • Ensure the engineering team stays current with advancements in 4IR technologies and leverages them effectively.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex engineering projects.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in hard disk drive technology is an added advantages
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and project management tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge and experience with 4IR technologies and their applications in the industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hard disk drive and high tech manufacturing are encourage to apply
  • Proven ability to manage and build engineering team.
