Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply, but 1-2 years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance is an advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., MYOB, SQL Accounting, SAP) is preferred.
- Understanding of Goods and Services Tax (GST) and other relevant tax regulations in Malaysia is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Malay. Proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage for liaising with Mandarin-speaking clients/vendors.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable (AP):
- Ensure accurate coding and timely payment of invoices.
- Prepare & manage petty cash reimbursement, and assist in the electronic payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies with vendors.
Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Reconcile customer accounts and maintain accurate records of collections.
- Assist in preparing aging reports and monitor overdue accounts for follow-up actions.
Bank Reconciliation:
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure alignment of financial records with bank statements.
- Investigate discrepancies and report any issues to the Direct Superior.
General Ledger Maintenance:
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including data entry of financial transactions.
- Support the preparation of journal entries and ensure that all entries are accurate and timely.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Financial Reporting and Documentation:
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow reports.
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of accounting records for easy retrieval during audits or reviews.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures.
Other Ad-hoc Tasks:
- Support Senior Accounts staff in special projects or financial analysis as required.
- Assist in improving accounting processes and identifying inefficiencies in the workflow.
- Provide support during internal and external audits by ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared and available.
