Kitchen Cook is responsible for cooking and preparing all menu items in accordance with standards set by the Chef. They will use various kitchen equipment, including grills, fryers, and ovens. The role requires a keen eye for detail, speed, and efficiency without compromising on food quality. The Kitchen Cook must also adhere to health and safety standards to provide guests with the best possible dining experience. Key Responsibilities: -Food Preparation: Prepare and cook food items according to standardized recipes and specifications. Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality, and in a timely fashion. -Kitchen Safety: Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by sanitizing surfaces, taking out the trash, and ensuring all kitchen equipment is clean and well-maintained. -Stock Management: Keep track of inventory and supplies, notify the Kitchen Manager when supplies are low, and assist in receiving and organizing deliveries. -Compliance with Health Regulations: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the kitchen area. Follow proper food handling procedures and maintain a clean work environment. -Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operation and service. Communicate effectively with the front of house staff to ensure a smooth service. -Menu Input: Contribute to the development of new dishes and menu items. Provide feedback to the Head Chef on potential improvements or suggestions. -Quality Control: Taste test dishes to ensure they meet the required taste, temperature, and visual appeal. Make adjustments as necessary to meet the restaurant's quality standards. -Efficiency Improvement: Constantly look for ways to improve kitchen operations, reduce food waste, and increase efficiency. Skills and Qualifications: -Proven experience as a cook in a fast-paced kitchen environment. -A diploma from a culinary school is a plus. -Knowledge of various cooking techniques and procedures. -Familiarity with industry best practices and culinary techniques. -Ability to work efficiently under pressure and multi-task. -Strong communication and teamwork skills. -A keen eye for detail and creativity in food preparation. -Ability to stand for extended periods. -Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Work Conditions: -Fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment. -Exposure to various temperatures, including hot kitchens and cold storage. -Requires standing for extended periods and the ability to lift heavy objects.
