Experience teaching in international school (IGCSE).
Experience & knowledge in Islamic Studies for secondary level.
Deliver content and facilitate coursework, discussions, and activities according to Soka Education pedagogy and follow the standards of the school humanistic education model.
Work with Academic teams to update and upgrade curricula based on purpose and principles in the Soka International School Malaysia
Set internal exam papers and deliver them in a timely manner for sufficient time to vet and print
Prepare students’ report cards in a timely manner for sufficient time to vet and print
Be ready to aid Heads in the preparation of materials needed in the classroom or for student progress and wellbeing
Document student work/progress for tracking purposes
Encourage and instil self-discipline in students
Speak English at all times and ensure students do the same except during non-English language classes
Handle emergencies and crises in the classroom
Communicate information to leaders that could jeopardise a student’s/student safety or wellbeing with the utmost appropriation
Collaborate with other teachers to address classroom or student-specific issues
Adhere to company policies that are put in place to protect and serve all stakeholders within the school.
Replace other teachers’ classes when called on, the exceptions being:
1. The teacher needs to assist to replicate the lesson in his/her own class
2. The teacher must be in the class to mentor the main teacher
Be punctual always
Follow the subject curriculum, deliver with energy, and see it through with every student
Keep up a fun and positive environment for both students and colleagues
Build real-ationships with every student; support students and their wellbeing
Adhere to the Founding Principles, Mottoes, Vision and Mission of the school.
Develop influence on steer students in the same direction in accordance with the school
Practice omnidirectional communication between all relevant departments, peers, and levels within the school i.e. updates from the management, updating peers at the quarterly Heads and Managers’ meeting
Ensure consistency in teaching methodology throughout all classes taught
Be accountable to the responsibilities of the role and hold the students accountable for theirs
Ensure clear and in depth understanding with regards to the reasons and rationale behind the rules, events, culture, and practices of the organisation. These must be communicated on all levels
Attend the school in-house training
Attend external trainings to develop breadth and depth in skillsets on top of teaching
Get regular feedback from respective Academic Head(s), mentoring teacher(s), and seniors to keep delivering excellence
Take active steps to model the behaviours and improvements that the leaders above are doing to stay up to date and grow with the role
Lead and/or assist with school events such as Open Days, school fairs, school events, etc.
Anticipate extending support to international students, boarding or non-boarding, if requested
Interacting with our students as a tribe; all students are our students, regardless of if you teach them regularly or not
Deliver the classroom content via approach of Modern Classroom Projects, Social -Emotional Learning, The Digital Teacher, Purpose Based Learning.

Requirements & Skills
• Degree in education, or a related discipline.
• Master’s degree preferable.
• Experience in Soka Education
• Experience / Qualifications in Humanistic Education / PYP / MYP / IBDP
• Experience / Qualification in Modern Classroom Projects, Social Emotional Learning, The Digital Teacher and Purpose Based Learning.
• Excellent collaboration and written and verbal communication skills.
• Great networking and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong planning skills, vision, and creative intelligence.
• A passion for education.

The lower secondary refers to Key Stage 3:
Year 7 to Year 9 (age 11 to 15).

The upper secondary refers to Key Stage 4:
Year 10 to Year 11 (age 14 to 17).

IGCSE examination preparations are carried out during Cambridge Upper Secondary.

Pre-University programs are also available at SISM (Year 12 – 13). We will be offering the International Baccalaureate Programme and the Cambridge International A levels upon approval as mentioned earlier.
