JOB PURPOSE

In ISKL High School, important goals for our students include for our students to develop strong study habits, to continue to embrace learning, and to value education in general. The habits that adolescents develop academically and socially through intellectual, social, cultural, and recreational activities are critical. High School offers these principles to help students develop their critical thinking skills, and ground ideas in active, engaging experiences which are important at this age.

To achieve this purpose, the Junior Assistant provides secretarial and administrative support to the High School Assistant Principal and supports the general administration work in the High School in ensuring the efficient operations of the administrative office.

RESPONSIBILITIES inclusive but not limited to:

  • To provide a welcoming, kind first contact for the HS office, as well as smooth and efficient operation of the front desk-related responsibilities
  • To support student needs related to passes, attendance, office visits, communication, etc
  • To partner with other members of the high school team to meet the goals and needs of the division
  • To carry out all secretarial and clerical duties assigned by the High School Assistant Principal
  • To carry out tasks related to the HS web page
  • To carry out tasks related to the Daily Morning Bulletin
  • To carry out tasks related to Daily Student Attendance in PowerSchool
  • To carry out tasks related to the HS drug testing program
  • To carry out all tasks related to the HS student lockers
  • To carry out tasks related to the copy room
  • To carry out all tasks related to teaching materials/supplies
  • To assist in planning and preparation of school-wide assemblies and special events
  • To assist in planning and preparation of written communication to the community
  • To support documentation of student well-being and discipline, in coordination with others on the high school team, including adhering to all confidentiality and safeguarding guidelines
  • To carry out tasks related to the HS Emergency and Evacuation program
  • To assist/back up the High School Office Manager when required including direct reporting during the school-approved holidays
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Technical skills

  • Consistently uses strong communication skills through oral and written skills in English and a passion for detail
  • Demonstrates competency with technology, including Google Suite, conference calls (such as Zoom and Google Meets), and projector usage
  • Exhibits personal integrity with management skills, conducted with confidentiality, confidence, initiative, and independence
  • Provides high-level clerical support to HS Assistant Principal performing a variety of secretarial duties and skilled tasks that may include preparing reports, conducting research, and collecting data.
  • Enhances effectiveness by providing information management support
  • Produces information by transcribing, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, transmitting, creating, and publishing text, data, and graphics
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to be an absolute team player

Qualifications and experiences preferred
