Job Overview:
The Occupational Health Technician (OHT) plays a crucial role in supporting the company's health and safety initiatives by conducting health assessments, assisting in the delivery of health services, and promoting employee well-being in the workplace. The OHT works under the supervision of Occupational Health Officer and advise from Occupational Health Doctor to monitor employee health, identify risks, and ensure compliance with occupational health regulations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist to execute the safety programs, implement the company's health and safety policy, and ensure the comprehensive management of company's occupational health and work safety.
  • Assist to establish, maintain, update and communicate Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene (OH & IH) standard and procedures to ensure all business activities are conducted in compliance with the regulatory and guidelines requirements.
  • Assist to perform IH risk assessments & exposure monitoring (i.e. chemical, physical, ergonomics, biological & psychosocial) as required by the regulations (i.e. USECHH 2000) and relevant standards and guidelines, using tools & methods recognized by the industry and company.
  • Assist to perform pre-employment health assessments and assist in return-to-work medical evaluations.
  • Assist to perform IH risk assessments & exposure monitoring review at the prescribed interval or as and when required (e.g. plant modification, project, chemical change, etc.)
  • Consolidate closure of action items derived from all IH risk assessment & exposure monitoring (e.g., Chemicals Exposure Monitoring, Medical Surveillance, Ergonomic Risk, etc.)
  • Assist on implementation of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health programs and relevant activities (e.g., SHOC, Removal Protection, Food & Water Safety, Fatigue Management) to ensure all business activities are conducted in compliance with the regulatory and relevant standards.
  • Consolidate data of Fatigue Management, Audiometric Test, Medical etc. records and discuss intervention for continual improvement.
  • Conduct OH & IH assurance at specified intervals to meet internal and external assurance requirements.
  • Compile data of submission for information as requested by company (e.g. performance update, OH & IH risks and controls, etc.)
  • Complete other temporary tasks assigned by superior in a timely manner.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of Diploma holder in Occupational Safety and Health, or related Engineering/Science field or equivalent, or certificates in related field and NIOSH Certification related to Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and Malaysia occupational health regulations, particularly OSHA 1994.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment, hazard control, and incident investigation techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for conducting training sessions and drafting reports.
  • Qualification as First Aider, Hygiene Technician 1, Hygiene Technician 2, Noise Assessor, Indoor Air Quality Assessor and CHRA Assessor would be advantageous.

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
