Cochlear Malaysia, Manufacture & Service Sound Processors to support Cochlear’s global operations over 100 countries. To support the growth in Manufacturing, we have a fantastic opportunity for Senior Engineer -Manufacturing Test Systems to work in Cochlear Malaysia.
In this role, you will be responsible to provide efficient and timely, high quality electronics and test system services support to Manufacturing, to ensure that the test systems are qualified to meet the manufacturing objective during the design transfer of new test systems and to lead user acceptance tests and qualification tests to meet the manufacturing requirements. Besides, to ensure all production equipment is running to full capacity and carryout failure analysis to determine the cause and implement corrective action.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Propose relevant tools and identifying PCBA and electronic component failure
- Identifying hardware & software defects to ensure the system meets and conforms to the test system requirement and test specification.
- Analyse and interprets test data using statistic tools and techniques such as Gage R&R and Cpk Analysis and prepares technical reports for management review.
- Integrate hardware and software to fully support manufacturing test for existing and new products using both traditional and computer-based instruments.
- Implementing and maintaining cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting test systems.
- and resolve minor to complex Manufacturing and Compliance issues
- Continuous improvement of Test equipment and process performance to meet Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost.
- Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and regression testing to ensure system has not regressed after software updates and changes have been made to the system
- Resolves production yield problems by performing analysis of root causes, developing, and coordinating corrective action, measures, and monitoring improvements.
- Review test equipment designs, manual, work instruction, PFMEA and safety to ensure the quality requirements are met.
- Improve production yield, reliability and quality through test condition optimization, advanced redundancy analysis schemes, data analysis and test equipment hardware optimization
- Liaising and collaborating with other departments (NPI, R&D, IT, Project, Firmware, Business support and Production Team) to resolve manufacturing challenges regarding development of new test system deliverables, system functionality and issues.
Why is this role right for you?
- At least 8 years of experience in PCB design, software driven test, software integration and evaluation processes on complex manufacturing or advanced technology projects is MUST for this position.
- Minimum degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer or Mechatronics Engineering or related field from a recognized university.
- MUST be proficient in any software programming language and scripting – NI LabVIEW, Phyton, C++ programming languages
- Good theory in acoustic or Radio Frequency (RF) is a MUST for this position.
- Experience in coaching or training juniors in electronic design, software driven test, software integration and evaluation processes on manufacturing projects is an added advantage.
- Experience in design experiments, develop protocols, perform equipment validations is an added advantage.
- Experience working in Manufacturing Environment, especially in Industrial electronic with expertise in Automation Control, Process Improvement failure analysis is an added advantage.
- Experience in develop or editing test software is a MUST for this position.

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills is highly essential for this role.
- Good interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication in English
- Candidates from Medical Device manufacturing industry will have an added advantage.
