• Safely and efficiently operate cranes to which they are signed.
• Inspect, maintain, record and report defects as per company procedures.
• Supervise the safe slinging and rigging of drilling and associated equipment.
• Planning and calculating load capacities to ensure all loads are lifted within the safe lifting parameters of cranes.
• Planning the placement and storage of tools and equipment in order to maximize storage and deck load capability.
• Assist on the helideck during helicopter operations.
• Must be knowledgeable in all facets of crane operations and safety procedures.
• Must be able to assist in other tasks when rig is not engaged in drilling operations. This will include:
• Marine operations – Anchor handling, tow-wire handling, deck work and protective coating maintenance;
• Construction/repair operations during breakdown or shipyard periods.
• Administrative duties – preparing and maintaining inventories, conducting assessments of those under his/her supervision.
• Participate fully in all safety initiatives and safety program.
• Participates in all safety meetings, including weekly, pre-tour and pre-job/toolbox meetings.
• Initiate and participate in the identification of hazards and assessment of risk.
• Monitors personnel and equipment under their control for compliance with statutory requirements and Company policies and procedures.
• Ensuring all personnel, under their supervision give a clear and accurate report of work status, their responsibilities and duties to their relief.
• Communicate pertinent matters pertaining to the operation and equipment under their control to their relief at shift and crew changes.
