About AISM
Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) is looking for a dedicated and qualified English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher to join our Junior School team. The ideal candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner, experienced in supporting the diverse language needs of students aged 3-11, and will work collaboratively with homeroom teachers and support staff to provide a dynamic, student-centered learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the language development needs of EAL students in mainstream classrooms and specific EAL classes.
  • Provide release coverage for the Upper Junior School Leader by teaching a Year 5 class approximately one day per week.
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of EAL students, ensuring continuity with the Middle and Senior School programs.
  • Develop and maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment, promoting positive behavior and respect.
  • Assess, plan, and report on student progress in line with the School’s expectations.
  • Provide professional development sessions to colleagues on effective strategies to support EAL students.
  • Collaborate on curriculum development and contribute to the school's co-curricular programs.
  • Build productive relationships with parents and colleagues to foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional growth and development.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Principal or Head of School.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Education, with eligibility for teacher registration in the home country.
  • Recognized qualification in TESOL, TEFL, ESL, EAL, or a similar field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching EAL or ESL in a primary school setting.
  • Demonstrated skills in designing, implementing, and evaluating differentiated learning experiences for non-native English speakers.
  • Experience in integrating ICT to enhance student engagement and learning.
