Job Description
- The Continuous Improvement Champion will be expected to ensure and maintain excellent employee relations to the standards required by Integer, including a variety of job related tasks, which may not be specific to this position profile.
- To take part in and give guidance to cross-functional teams rolling out the Lean Manufacturing initiatives throughout the Penang facility.
- Strive to develop best practice methods, workplace layout and workplace organization to gain throughput increases, inventory reductions, and operating expense reductions.
- Assist in training employees in Lean Techniques and Principles in order to develop an organization wide culture of change.
- Assist in the retraining of employees to perform processes as documented by revised standard operating procedures.
- To support the quality concepts inherent in the business philosophies of Integer, including a variety of job related tasks, which may not be specific to this position profile.
- To actively promote the necessity to reduce cost in order for Site to achieve competitive advantage.
- Adheres to Integer Core Value and all safety, environmental, security and quality requirements including, but not limited to: Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety, Environmental and Security Management Systems, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements.
- Works with the Plant’s Leadership team to perform gap assessments on the Plant’s manufacturing system, create current and future state value stream maps, and develop Lean improvement plans and schedules.
- Lead cross-functional teams through kaizen events and the implementation of the lean toolset (e.g. cellular flow, line balancing, standard work, 5S, material and information flow, total productive maintenance, quick change-over.)
- Acts as plant expert and business consultant in lean manufacturing.
- Provides ongoing communication to plant and group management on Lean initiatives.
- Provides progress reports on the plant’s lean initiatives
- Interacts with plant’s PLT to identify cost saving opportunities and lean projects that improve the value stream.
- Establishes best practices for the business. Works with other Lean Facilitators across Value Stream to calibrate and establishes Integer standards and guidelines for lean implementation.
- Participate in group brainstorming sessions to feed new project pipeline.
- Estimate & secure the cost benefit of specific projects.
- The auditing of processes to ensure that gains are sustained.
- Assists in the development of corrective action when requested.
- Acts as a Lean Manufacturing resource to support other departments.
- Maintain organization to ISO operation procedures.
- Represent company in a professional and exemplary manner before our suppliers, employees and community at large.
- Comply with all safety regulations, wears appropriate safety equipment as required in each area of the facility.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirement
- Accredited Lean and Six Sigma (Black Belt certification preferred)
- Minimum 8 years proven continuous improvement analytical experience from a similar role, including project management and business analysis.
- Several years’ senior level experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent understanding of continuous improvement concepts including Six Sigma, Lean, value stream mapping
- Experience of hands-on implementation of continuous improvement programs and Lean solutions
- Experience of designing remediation plans to address productivity and efficiency issues, and track record of following through to ensure closure
- Experience in A3 problem Solving methodology & deliver A3 Problem Solving training
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations, systems and project management.
- Knowledge of engineering theories, methods and work measurement techniques.
- Excellent motivational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to train and lead assigned employees
- Ability to communicate and work with people inside and outside the Department as necessary to execute these responsibilities.
- Good initiative / hands-on person / ability to influence
- Strong analytical, project and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements
- Ability to communicate the benefits of Lean Manufacturing both positively and discreetly.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to present information in a concise and clear manner
- Certified in Training Within Industry
- Display knowledge of engineering theories, methods and work measurement techniques.
- Good working knowledge of AutoCad, Mechanical Desktop experience
- Able to understand and follow appropriate Departmental policies, procedures, practices and to understand the inter-relationships of people and functions.
- Understanding of performance metrics such as OEE, Mean Time between Failures, Uptime/Downtime etc.
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop experience would be an advantage.
- Excellent Interpersonal/Customer Relations Skills and Professionalism required
- Experience of Information Management Systems for Manufacturing operations.
- Preferably Manager specialized in Manufacturing/ Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
