Job Purpose / Objective
Manage, monitor, organize, and supervise the daily operational activities of the Nursing Administration.
Provide clinical, professional, and managerial leadership to the assigned nursing team.
Ensure a high standard of nursing care is consistently delivered to patients safely and cost-effectively to achieve patient satisfaction.
Protect business interests and lead initiatives to foster a patient-family-centered environment and transform care delivery.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Patient Care Delivery:
Manage the day-to-day function of Nursing Administration in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Maintain patient records by ensuring appropriate review, interpretation, and analysis of reports, providing guidance with relevant departments as needed.
Maintain scheduling and staffing plans for nurses, ensuring the appropriate skill mix.
Facilitate communication with clinical departments to ensure patient care is coordinated effectively.
Enforce infection control protocols in all outpatient departments.
Liaise with Pharmacy to ensure that all patients receive appropriate medications.
Oversee and monitor the delivery of Nursing Administration, acting as a patient advocate while maintaining privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
Monitor and ensure patient satisfaction, proactively addressing any identified issues.
Promote reflective practice and learning to ensure nursing care is appropriate and based on patients' needs.
Work closely with the medical team to ensure effective patient management and adherence to specific consultant care protocols.
Ensure strict compliance with infection control prevention standards.
Maintain proper storage and handling of medications, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
Discuss and promote innovations to improve patient care.
Maintain confidentiality in all aspects.
Nursing Administration:
Ensure that all policies, procedures, guidelines, and work instructions related to Nursing Administration are regularly reviewed and updated.
Prepare and review departmental policies, audit processes, quality improvement projects, and implement required actions.
Efficiently manage the Nursing Administration, ensuring proper and effective utilization of resources and equipment.
Ensure compliance with approved policies and standards, including JCIA/CBAHI requirements.
Lead the implementation of new services, policies, and guidelines.
Ensure patient and family satisfaction.
Investigate incidents, accidents, complaints, and concerns, ensuring corrective actions and preventive measures are taken.
Ensure that all objectives, instructions, and goals are documented, implemented, and reviewed in a timely manner.
Regularly maintain, repair, or replace equipment in Nursing Administration.
Complete required reports, statistics, and quality figures promptly.
Identify and discuss potential areas for development or high-risk concerns with the Director of Nursing.
Report any significant issues or concerns to the Director of Nursing promptly.
Conduct and attend meetings as needed, ensuring minutes are circulated to relevant staff.
Promote a cost-effective approach to nursing operations.
Monitor nursing practices closely to avoid malpractice that could lead to financial loss.
Conduct regular inventory checks and track supply consumption to ensure adequate stock levels.
Ensure proper storage of supplies and prevent expiration before use.
Ensure patient and family education is provided.
Staff Management:
Act as Acting Director of Nursing in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
Serve as a resource for specialist clinical knowledge and information for nursing staff, ensuring compliance with JCIA and CBAHI standards.
Provide fair and firm leadership, maintaining high morale among staff.
Monitor the level and standard of work produced by staff, offering guidance, coaching, and advice as necessary.
Facilitate the professional development of ward staff to ensure competency in providing safe nursing care.
Identify the training and learning needs of ward staff, ensuring mandatory training requirements are met and documented.
Maintain proper records of staff status (licenses, training, competency, evaluation, etc.) and act accordingly.
Foster a harmonious and professional working environment.
Maintain proper records of staff attendance, leave, and other staff-related aspects.
Ensure all staff are aware of their job descriptions and expectations.
Complete staff rotas in a timely manner, ensuring appropriate coverage.
Monitor the performance of new staff to ensure they are competent to provide the expected care.
Serve as a role model by adhering to policies, rules, and standards of attendance and punctuality.
Assist with patient and family education.
Review staff performance and provide counseling for unsatisfactory performance.
Address personnel and administrative issues and resolve staff-related problems.
Participate in and lead person-centered care initiatives undertaken by the organization.
Enrich the patient experience with compassion, respect, and dignity.
Additional Duties:

Education/ Professional Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Experience
Minimum of Twelve (12) years of experience.
Professional Licensing / Certification / Training
BCLS or ACLS, relevant certifications—Preferred
Language Proficiency
English
