Role Purpose:

We are looking for a hands on data platform specialist to stabilize and innovate the platform and services that will improve our customers and business stakeholders experience as well as scale our systems as our customer-base continues to grow.

As a data platform specialist in a large organization, you will own the technical aspects for your platform and will work closely with your application, architecture and delivery teams to ensure the needs of our business problems are clearly understood and effectively addressed.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Part of the platform services squads for the Infrastructure & Database Administrators.
  • Innovating, modernizing & and proactive monitoring of IT Core infrastructure performance, maintenance, support and infrastructure capacity planning.
  • Take end to end ownership in the management of multiple big data and database platform technologies, Orchestrations Tooling and runtimes.
  • Train, guide and grow other team members on a continuous basis to have a sustainable resource plan.
  • Lead data-driven decision-making process define KPI and Metrics to measure Big Data Storage Platform performance, team performance and evolve metrics on an on-going basis.
  • Work on Roadmap & Strategy for Data Platform with focus on Regional and nonRegional Platforms with Technological focus on Teradata (with Vantage) / Oracle / Big Data Platforms (Open Source, Commodity and BDA) and object storage (and other future roadmaps).
  • Ensure Platform Security with Data on Rest and on move with additionally maintaining UAM and appropriate controls on PII
  • Ensure execution of technology/product roadmap with top Quality and clear SLA.
  • Ensuring IT Core Infrastructure services are aligned with evolving needs and capabilities, capacity and are future fit (Cloud/on-premises technologies best suited for the bank).
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders on Platform strategy with the banks internal technology teams and manage the vendors for platform upgrades and maintenance.
  • Ensure effective platform maintenance, including the performance tuning and storage optimization opportunities.
  • Ensure effective software configuration management practices so the roadmap for devops can be adopted
  • Inventory management for all environments across all platforms to ensure the effective utilization of platform & its resources

Requirements

  • Knowledge of IT Service Management frameworks and the management of IT Services
  • Knowledge/Understanding of good information security practice from a technical and management perspective.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of ITIL
  • 10 + years experience as a Manager of Infrastructure Operation team
  • 8+ years as Infrastructure Operations experience in Teradata, Hadoop, Kubernetes, Oracle, Spark and other Big data technologies, Data Centre Management, Cloud Technologies and Management.
  • Proven track record of driving and delivering consistent and constant service improvements.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management
  • Evidence of ability to build relationships to all levels within the organization.
  • Evidence of adaptability/flexible to changing demands.
  • Evidence of ability to influence.
  • An understanding of an outsourced delivery environment/model. Understanding of internal/external customer business needs.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Experienced in Teradata, Hadoop, Data Visualization, OBIEE, ODI, and other Big data technologies, Data Centre Management, Cloud Technologies and Management.
  • Good relationship management skills - The ability to manage relationships with the stakeholders, and provides feedback to the project team, and relevant managers.
  • Good communication skills - The ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. And the ability to engage business users, articulate and interpret business requirement and translate into MIS functional requirements
  • Good problem solving skills Strong interpersonal and analytical skills including problem analysis, Interviewing, probing and information gathering skills, listening skills.
  • Strong office administration skills Incumbent is able to deal with a busy office environment and ensure that departmental administration is effectively controlled.
