Job Description:

We are seeking a diligent and motivated Kitchen Operator to join our Japanese restaurant’s central kitchen team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient preparation and production of high-quality Japanese cuisine that adheres to food safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cook, and package various Japanese dishes including sushi, sashimi, ramen, tempura, and more according to standardized recipes.
  • Assist in food prep and production processes, including cutting vegetables, handling meat, and preparing sauces.
  • Operate kitchen equipment (e.g., fryers, steamers, grills, and rice cookers) safely and effectively.
  • Ensure that all food produced is of high quality and consistency, maintaining authenticity in Japanese flavors.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations in food handling and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Perform routine kitchen maintenance tasks such as cleaning and sanitizing workstations, utensils, and equipment.
  • Manage inventory, stock ingredients, and report shortages to the supervisor or chef.
  • Ensure timely preparation of meals, coordinating with the front-of-house team to meet customer demand.
  • Assist with packing and portioning food for delivery to multiple restaurant locations.
  • Follow guidelines for storage and handling of raw materials, ensuring freshness and minimizing wastage.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably in Japanese cuisine, is an advantage but not required (training will be provided).
  • Basic knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to follow recipes and procedures with attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 20kg).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
