Energy (Electricity, Natural Gas & fuel feedstock) sourced to serve our customers in East Asia Pacific (EAP) amounts to several hundreds of millions euros yearly and in many cases represents the largest component of our sales. At the same time, energy markets remain volatile due to geopolitical issues, creating risks in terms of availability and security of supply. The EAP Energy Management team aims to implement and enhance good energy management practices across all business lines, creating new value streams arising from market changes and ensuring proper governance and risk management for our energy sourcing activities.

As an important pillar of the EAP Energy Management Team, the Middle and Back Office Specialist shall be responsible in monitoring & management of performance and energy risk through the development of standardized end-to-end energy index balances, analysis of Energy Contribution and back-office activities such as invoice check and energy index administrations across all business lines.

Under the supervision of Energy Management Director and in collaboration with Front Office team members, Middle and Back Office Specialist is in charge of providing relevant data analytics, deriving insights to maximise operational and contractual values across EAP cluster. To acheive this, Middle and Back Office member will be located with close proximity and be a key enabler to the End-to-End Optimization Team in Kuala Lumpur in order to leverage on the combination of opportunities present in dynamic operational changes and market arbitration.

The Middle and Back Office is responsible to compute and maintain the big picture of the energy value chain of assigned countries in EAP and owns the systems which consolidates these reports in an efficient way. He/she would be responsible to provide accurate computation of energy cost and collaborate with local finance for accurate reporting of energy cost on month to month operations, Target forecast and reforecast as may be required by management from time to time.

Having the big picture of energy value chain, he/she would be responsible in monitoring any misalignment risks and recommends for hedging strategies which could be deployed for risk mitigations; He/She shall liaise with Group and local finance for performing hedging transactions and thereafter to track and ensure proper settlement and impact to P&L.

His/Her mission is also focused on the consolidation, collaboration and implementation of digital tools for Energy Management Department.

With the focus on Energy Transition, the Middle and Back Office will also be responsible for the consolidated emission picture and government reporting in EAP cluster and support the management in defining the proper roadmaps as well as leading the application of grants for carbon abatement or energy efficiency projects.

1. Cost provisions and proper energy indexation computation and governance with directives from management of specific countries such as Singapore for complicated provisions

2. Energy Invoice Checking of all Energy sourcing contracts

3. P&L targets & Energy performance monitoring

such as Energy Cost variances, Energy/Risk metrics & analysis

4. Hedging operations using financial deriatives following group's guidance

Ensure that risk and reward is clearly understood to management and principles adhere to AL Group Sourcing principles

5. GHG emission Taxation Computation & Analysis, Grant Applications

6.Maintaining data system to consolidate store market and invoice information for purpose of cross-checking, indexation, future analysis, big data study
