The Head of Shift is responsible for managing and coordinating the operational activities at the Power Plant on a shift basis, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This includes overseeing plant processes, performance, chemistry and environmental compliance, as well as liaising with relevant internal and external parties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervise Shift Operations: Manage daily shift activities at the Power Plant (Waste to Energy and Waste Segregation Facility), coordinate maintenance tasks, and prioritize operational concerns.
  2. Operate Within Regulations: Ensure the Power Plant operates safely and efficiently within regulatory requirements and plant constraints.
  3. Report Management: Oversee operational reporting to meet contractual, management, and quality standards.
  4. Authorized Deputy: Act as the Plant Manager's authorized representative outside normal office hours, making decisions and initiating actions during non-routine events or emergencies.
  5. Emergency Response: Serve as the Emergency Controller during the initial stages of an incident or emergency.
  6. Incident Analysis: Analyze operational incidents, recommend improvements, and update procedures for safe and efficient plant operations.
  7. Promote Safety Culture: Lead by example to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company and legal health and safety standards.
  8. Collaborate Across Teams: Work with engineers and technicians from other departments to prioritize plant maintenance and support the shift team.
  9. Ensure Compliance: Maintain a safe and quality-conscious work environment, adhering to QHSE, health and safety, and environmental regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or suitable technical qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in the maintenance of Thermal Power Plants.
  • A detailed knowledge of engineering practices, function and processes involved in power plant operation and maintenance.
  • First Grade Steam Engineer Certificate
