Job Description

  • Billing Management:
    • Lead the billing operations team to ensure timely and accurate generation of client invoices for services.
    • Oversee the creation and distribution of billing statements, including corrections, credits, and adjustments as needed.
    • Maintain billing schedules and ensure adherence to client agreements, SLAs, and company policies.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure that all revenue is recorded correctly and on time.
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of billing specialists, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
    • Set and monitor individual and team goals, ensuring alignment with overall departmental and company objectives.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss billing performance, challenges, and areas for improvement.
    • Foster a positive work environment focused on high-quality output and continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement & Automation:
    • Continuously review and enhance the billing processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
    • Identify areas for process improvement and automation to reduce manual intervention and errors.
    • Collaborate with IT and software teams to implement automation tools and technologies to optimize billing workflows.
    • Implement best practices for billing accuracy, reducing disputes, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated billing issues and discrepancies, working closely with clients to resolve concerns.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring transparency and understanding of their billing needs and agreements.
    • Provide timely communication to clients regarding billing queries, credit notes, and adjustments.
    • Partner with account management and sales teams to ensure accurate billing and to support client retention.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
    • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual billing reports for senior management.
    • Monitor billing KPIs such as billing accuracy, invoicing timeliness, and the percentage of disputed invoices.
    • Provide insights and recommendations for improving revenue recognition, forecasting, and client satisfaction.
    • Ensure all billing data is accurately maintained in the financial systems and is audit-ready at all times.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
    • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of billing procedures, client agreements, and financial records for audit purposes.
    • Work closely with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation during audits.
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and other financial obligations related to client billing.
The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in billings or finance, with at least 4+ years in a managerial role.
  • Strong experience in billing systems and processes, preferably within a shared services environment.
  • Familiarity with billing and invoicing is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with experience in leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly.
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
