Job Summary:

The District Manager will be responsible for overseeing the retail operations of multiple Bata stores in Johor Bahru, ensuring the successful implementation of sales strategies, operational excellence, customer service standards, and team leadership. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on management experience in retail apparel, focusing on driving profitability, brand integrity, and customer satisfaction across all store locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Store Operations:
  • Manage daily operations of all stores within the district, ensuring compliance with company standards, procedures, and policies.
  • Drive operational efficiency, ensure visual merchandising is aligned with brand standards, and maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Oversee store audits, inventory management, and compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with store managers to ensure high store performance and operational excellence.
  1. Sales Performance:
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets.
  • Monitor and analyze sales data, trends, and customer feedback to optimize performance.
  • Set achievable sales goals for stores, coach teams to meet/exceed targets, and develop action plans for underperforming stores.
  • Work closely with the regional sales team to ensure store-level promotions and marketing campaigns are effectively executed.
  1. Team Leadership & Development:
  • Recruit, train, and mentor store managers and retail staff to ensure high levels of performance and customer service.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development.
  • Foster a positive work culture that motivates and engages employees, driving high retention and productivity.
  1. Customer Experience:
  • Ensure consistent delivery of superior customer service across all stores.
  • Address customer complaints and issues efficiently, providing timely resolutions.
  • Continuously evaluate customer service standards and implement improvements where necessary to enhance the overall shopping experience.
  1. Financial & Budget Management:
  • Manage store budgets, controlling expenses, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring profitability.
  • Analyze P&L reports, monitor store profitability, and make recommendations for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
  • Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for the district.
  1. Strategic Planning:
  • Develop long-term strategies to increase market share, improve brand presence, and enhance store operations in the district.
  • Collaborate with senior management on regional business plans, including expansion opportunities and competitive positioning.
  • Drive innovation in store processes and implement best practices in retail management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in retail management, with at least 3 years in a multi-store or district manager role.
  • Proven track record of driving sales and operational improvements in the retail industry, preferably within apparel or footwear.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and operational performance metrics.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and P&L statements.
  • Willingness to travel within the Johor Bahru district and attend to store-related needs on a regular basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with global or well-established retail brands in footwear or apparel.
  • Knowledge of the Johor Bahru retail market is a plus.
