Epsom College in Malaysia is recently accredited as a Training School by the Council of Britsih International Schools (COBIS), qualifying us to deliver Initial Teacher Training to grow the global teacher workforce.


We are excited to announce the launch of our Initial Teacher Training (ITT) program, which will begin in January 2025. We're looking for passionate and motivated individuals from Malaysia to join us. This cohort will focus on preparing teachers for subjects including Accounting, Business, Mathematics, Science, and English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Our ITT program is designed to equip aspiring educators with the essential skills and knowledge for a successful career in teaching. As an Initial Teacher Trainee, you will benefit from comprehensive training, practical teaching experiences, and continuous mentorship to build your confidence and effectiveness as an educator.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded an International Postgraduate Certificate in Education (IPGCE). Additionally, housing will be provided at the Epsom campus throughout the duration of the ITT program. Key Responsibilities

  • Training and Professional Development:
  • Participate in a structured teacher training program that includes both theoretical and practical components.
  • Attend workshops, seminars, and lectures that cover essential teaching methodologies, classroom management techniques, and subject-specific pedagogy.
  • Engage in reflective practice and self-assessment to continuously improve your teaching skills.
  • Classroom Experience:
  • Work under the supervision of experienced teachers to gain hands-on teaching experience.
  • Plan and deliver lessons.
  • Manage classroom activities, support student learning, and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Mentorship and Support:
  • Receive ongoing mentorship from a designated Mentor Teacher who will guide your development and provide regular feedback.
  • Participate in regular observations and evaluations to assess your progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other trainees and staff members, sharing experiences and learning from each other.
  • Assessment and Reflection:
  • Develop and implement assessment strategies to evaluate student learning and progress.
  • Reflect on your teaching practices, using feedback from mentors, peers, and students to inform your growth as an educator.
  • Maintain a portfolio of your work, documenting your progress and achievements throughout the training program.
  • Pastoral Care and Student Support:
  • Contribute to the pastoral care of students, ensuring their well-being and supporting their personal and academic development.
  • Build positive relationships with students, fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom Environment.
  • Professional Conduct
  • Adhere to the school’s policies and procedures, including those related to safeguarding, equality, and diversity.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of your training, including punctuality, preparation, and communication.
  • Engage in the broader school community by participating in school events, extracurricular activities, and other initiatives.
  • Qualifications:
  • Malaysian citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area from a recognised university (final-year students may also be considered).
  • IELTS score of 6.5 or above, or equivalent English language proficiency.
  • Strong passion for teaching and working with young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Some experience working with children or young people (e.g., tutoring, coaching, volunteering).
  • Familiarity with the educational system and curriculum of Epsom College Malaysia.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin, Japanese, and/or Korean languages.
  • Program Structure

  • Initial Evaluation Period: The ITT program begins with a one-month evaluation period, where trainees are assessed on their suitability for the program. During this time, trainees will participate in various training sessions, observe experienced teachers, and engage in initial teaching activities. Successful completion of this evaluation is required to continue in the ITT program.
  • ITT Program: Upon passing the initial evaluation, trainees will embark on the full ITT program, a comprehensive, full-time training experience commencing in January 2025 and typically lasting one academic year. Trainees will receive regular feedback and evaluations to track their progress. The program will initially focus on training teachers for Accounting, Business, Mathematics, Science, and/or English as an Additional Language (EAL) lessons.
  • Post-ITT Program: Upon successful conclusion of the ITT program, trainees will obtain an International Postgraduate Certificate in Education (IPGCE) certification. They will also be offered a permanent teaching position at Epsom College Malaysia.
  • Additionally, trainees will be required to commit to a two-year bond with the school, ensuring continuity and further development as educators within the school community.
  • Application Process
