We are a leading furniture retailer, committed to provide our customers with high-quality furniture and stylish products. As we embark on an exciting nationwide expansion, we are looking for a talented and experienced Head of Accounts and Finance to join our team. This role reports directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the organization’s growth.
    • Provide financial analysis and insights to aid in decision-making.
    • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

    2. Financial Reporting and Compliance:

    • Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards.
    • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies.

    3. Cash Flow Management:

    • Manage the organization’s cash flow and financial health, ensuring liquidity for daily operations.
    • Oversee investment strategies, fund allocation, and working capital management.

    4. Leadership and Team Management:

    • Lead and manage the accounts and finance team, ensuring efficient operations.
    • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial controls.
    • Provide training, mentorship, and career development opportunities for the finance team.

    5. Risk Management:

    • Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
    • Ensure the organization has sufficient insurance coverage and risk management policies in place.

    6. Internal Controls and Systems:

    • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
    • Oversee financial systems and ensure the use of appropriate software and tools for financial management.

    7. Stakeholder Communication:

    • Present financial reports and insights to the executive team and board of directors.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial alignment with organizational goals.

    8. Costing and Inventory Valuation:

    • Understanding inventory costing methods (FIFO, LIFO, Weighted Average) is crucial, as the furniture business often involves high-cost, slow-moving inventory

    9. Stock Turnover and Management:

    • Experience in managing large inventories and optimizing stock turnover is essential. In retail, especially furniture, managing stock levels, minimizing overstock, and avoiding dead stock are key financial priorities.

    10. Multistore Financial Management:

    • Experience in managing finances across different location is crucial, this includes financial consolidation, performance tracking, and inter-branch accounting

    11. Capital Expenditure (CapEx) for Store Expansions or Renovations:

    • Experience in managing CapEx projects and understanding the long-term financial impacts of these investments is critical

    Key Skills and Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Professional certifications like CPA, CMA, ACCA, or CFA are often required.
    • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or a related role, with leadership or management experience.
    • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, leadership abilities, proficiency in financial software (e.g., Microsoft NAV Accounting system, ERP systems), excellent communication, and knowledge of relevant accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP).

    Key Metrics for Success:

    • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
    • Effective management of cash flow and working capital.
    • Successful implementation of financial strategies and plans.
    • Compliance with regulatory requirements and financial audits.
