The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and providing strategic guidance on financial matters. This role involves coordinating with various departments to ensure financial compliance and efficiency, as well as supporting the executive team with financial planning and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Analyze financial data and present insights to the management team.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information to stakeholders.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Develop and manage the company’s annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support departments in preparing their budgets and forecasts.

Accounting Operations:

  • Oversee the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions and records.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting.

Compliance and Audits:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Coordinate external audits and work closely with auditors to ensure successful audit outcomes.
  • Manage tax reporting and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Monitor cash flow and manage cash reserves to ensure the company’s financial stability.
  • Develop strategies for effective cash management and optimize working capital.

Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, including profitability analysis, cost analysis, and investment analysis.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections.

Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with senior management in developing long-term financial strategies.
  • Provide financial insights to support business growth and expansion initiatives.
  • Participate in the development of corporate strategies and plans.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure team members are trained on accounting standards and financial procedures.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support career development for team members.

Risk Management:

  • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure that the company has adequate insurance coverage and risk management policies in place.

Systems and Process Improvement:

  • Evaluate and implement financial systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve financial processes and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or similar certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Full working rights for Malaysia
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
