About The Job

We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Pet Food Nutritionist to join our team. The Pet Food Nutritionist will play a crucial role in formulating and optimizing nutritionally balanced diets for dogs and cats. This position requires a deep understanding of companion animal physiology, dietary requirements, and formulation techniques to ensure the production of high-quality pet food products.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting thorough nutritional assessments and analysis of ingredients to formulate complete and balanced diets for dogs and cats.
  • Collaborating with research and development teams to develop innovative pet food formulations that meet nutritional guidelines and customer preferences.
  • Utilizing knowledge of pet food regulations and standards to ensure compliance with relevant laws and labeling requirements.
  • Performing quality control checks on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished pet food to maintain consistency and safety standards.
  • Monitoring and evaluating pet food trends, consumer preferences, and emerging nutritional research to inform product development strategies.
  • Providing technical support and expertise to internal teams, including marketing, sales, and customer service, to address inquiries and ensure accurate product information.
  • Conducting feeding trials and sensory evaluations to assess palatability, digestibility, and overall acceptance of pet food formulations.
  • Collaborating with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients and evaluate their nutritional value and suitability for use in pet food production.
  • Developing educational materials and training programs for retail staff and veterinary professionals to promote understanding of pet nutrition and the benefits of specific dietary choices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Medicine, Food Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in Pet Nutrition are preferred.
  • Proven experience working as a Pet Food Nutritionist, Animal Nutritionist, or in a related role within the pet food industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of companion animal physiology, nutrient requirements, and dietary guidelines for dogs and cats.
  • Familiarity with pet food formulation software and analytical tools used in assessing nutritional composition and ingredient interactions.
  • Strong understanding of pet food regulations, labeling requirements, and safety standards established by relevant authorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and precision in formulating diets and conducting nutritional analyses.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and adapt to evolving project priorities and timelines.
  • Passion for pets and a commitment to enhancing their health and well-being through nutritionally balanced diets.
  • Knowledge of market trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape in the pet food industry.
