Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Agronomy Intern to assist in various aspects of agronomic data collection, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) quantification audits, training for smallholders, and supporting reporting and documentation activities. This internship offers hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture and exposure to the field of agronomy while contributing to impactful projects focused on smallholder farmers.

Key Responsibilities:

Agronomy Data Collection:

  • Assist in gathering field data related to oil, foliar, vegetative growth and deficiency observation, in oil palm smallholder fields.
  • Work in outdoor environment and understand basic regulations and etiquette on data collection.
  • Ensure accurate recording and organization of field data.

GAP Quantification Audits:

  • Participate in conducting audits to assess the compliance of smallholders with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
  • Collect and analyze data to quantify GAP adherence and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in preparing reports on audit findings.

Smallholders Training:

  • Help organize and conduct training sessions for smallholder farmers on sustainable farming practices, GAP implementation, and crop management.
  • Provide on-site support during field demonstrations and workshops.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Contribute to the preparation of reports on agronomy activities, data analysis, and audit outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and filing of field records, training materials, and audit reports.
  • Assist in compiling progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in sustainable agriculture and working with smallholder farmers.
  • Basic understanding of agronomic practices and data collection methodologies.
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.
  • Willingness to work in the field and travel to rural locations.
