Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance and repair activities for all mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems within the WTE plant. The role involves
- Developing maintenance strategies, supervising maintenance teams, managing budgets, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Established preventive and predictive maintenance, continuous improvement, and safety protocols is required to maximize plant uptime and operational efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure optimal plant performance.
- Supervise a team of maintenance technicians, electricians, and contractors, ensuring timely response to equipment malfunctions and repair needs.
- Oversee the daily maintenance operations, including scheduling, prioritizing work orders, and resource allocation.
- Ensure the proper functioning of boilers, turbines, compressors, generators, and other WTE-specific systems.
- Manage the calibration and repair of electrical and control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and other automation systems.
- Regularly inspect and evaluate plant equipment and infrastructure to identify potential risks or needs for upgrade and replacement.
- Implement and enforce strict safety protocols to protect the maintenance team and plant personnel.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with environmental regulations and safety standards, including OSHA and EPA guidelines.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and investigations into equipment failure to continuously improve plant safety.
- Manage spare parts inventory, procurement, and relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Negotiate contracts and coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or upgrades.
- Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning within the maintenance team.
- Ability to work in high intensity, competency and power plant compliances standard.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field is required; a Master's degree in a related discipline is a strong plus.
- Must have at least 10 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a head or maintenance / lead position within the WTE or energy sector. Proven experience in managing WTE plant maintenance is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal) are essential. Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and computer literacy are required. Strong leadership abilities, with a focus on team development and operational excellence, are critical.
- Professional Engineer, Steam Engineer qualifications would be added advantage.
- Proactive interpersonal, quality leadership skills & positive attitude.
