  • He/She is responsible for the day-to-day operation of speech therapy services. The provision of speech therapy services include consultation, diagnosis, rehabilitation and counselling to patients with speech, language, hearing and swallowing disorders.
  • He/She ensures all assigned duties are performed to support the smooth operations of the Rehabilitative Services Department
  • Operational Issues

  • Provides rehabilitative treatment as recommended by the referring doctors.
  • Plans and prioritizes patient treatment schedules adequately.
  • Liaises with the involved medical practitioners on the patients’ progress.
  • Establishes good rapport with the patients, assess their needs and prepare them for continuing care after discharge.
  • Supplies assistive tools to patients along with proper utilization instruction and counselling.
  • Manages the Rehabilitative Services Department reception counter and its activities that include handling enquiries, providing accurate information to service user, managing the appointment system, scheduling of patient flow, monitoring work flow and assisting in patient registering and records when required.
  • Required to deliver frontline services in an efficient manner to achieve customer satisfaction standard for the organization.
  • Accurately records assessment, treatment, and plan into patient’s progress notes.
  • Provides input pertaining to improvement of department’s services, additional equipment, etc.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by the Unit Head.
  • Responds to Emergency Codes and other emergency situations when required.
  • Inventory and Equipment Maintenance Control

  • Ensures accuracy in charging; checking for missing charges so that revenue is not affected.
  • Assists with requisition of supplies patients and department use (Purchase Requisition and Store Requisition).
  • Customer Service
  • Reports timely to the Unit Head / Administrator routinely on patient related matters.
  • Resolves and follows through on patient related problems if any arises and informs the Unit Head accordingly.
  • Assisting with internal/external hospital wide duties such as at screening stations, marketing events, etc.
  • Education / Training

  • Assist in department orientation and OJT (On-Job-Training) for new staff.
  • Participates in department continuous professional education sessions.
  • Participates in the delivery of lectures or health talks to new employees of RSD ParkCity, Academy students and at Public Forums if required.
  • Assists in the orientation of new staff clinically and operationally.
  • Provides guidance to students during their placement in PMC.
  • Attends talks, meetings, courses, workshops on skills updating as determined by the Unit Head.
  • Participates in Quality Initiative Programs.
  • Administrative

  • Attends meetings and participates in committees as assigned.
  • Assists in compilation of census and quality initiatives monthly.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by the Unit Head

    Education / Professional Qualification

    Recognized Degree of Masters in Speech Therapy / Speech Pathology.

    Fresh graduate, preferably with at least 1 year work experience in an acute-care hospital or with relevant experience.

    Good command of spoken and written English.

    Good interpersonal and communication skills.
