Role Description

The Marketing & Communications Officer is responsible for co-creating and implementing a marketing & communications strategy that effectively promotes Fugee’s mission, goals and values. The Communication Officer is required to craft and disseminate messages through social media, press releases, newsletters, and websites, to reach the target audience, and create and maintain a positive public image for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy aligned with the organisation’s goals and mission.
  • Develop and maintain the organisation's website and social media platforms, ensuring that they are up-to-date, engaging, and consistent with the organisation's branding.
  • Create & design visually appealing templates, posters and other materials to support various programmes and campaigns.
  • Plan, shoot and edit photos and videos that tell compelling stories and showcase the organisation's work.
  • Write, edit, and produce communication materials such as press releases, annual reports, newsletters, and other publications. This also includes collaborating with the programme team to develop effective messaging that clearly communicates the organisation's educational programmes to the intended audience.
  • Co-develop and execute marketing campaigns to increase lead generation and conversion rates.
  • Assist the team in implementing and executing fundraising strategies.
  • Create and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, community organisations, and other key stakeholders to ensure that the organisation's messages are accurately conveyed and reported.
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of marketing and promotional materials, such as brochures, flyers, and other collateral materials.
  • Co-Manage and co-coordinate the organisation's participation in events, such as conferences, exhibitions, and fundraisers, and ensure that the organisation's brand and messages are effectively communicated.

  • Strong communication skills: ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Photography and videography skills: Ability to produce high-quality visual content (photos and videos).
  • Knowledge of digital tools: understanding of various software, applications, and online platforms, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Google Workspace, and Shopify, that are used to create, manage, and analyse digital content and campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related fields
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in a communications role or similar
