Position Summary

The Product Development Assistant Manager is responsible to support or lead the development of new or existing products to meet the consumer, customers and business needs within the assigned projects / activities

You will play an essential role to:

  1. Seek to understand consumer needs & insights, behavior and usage pattern, technical trend or new material and translate the understanding into new ideas, product features & solutions based on the machine capability and/or new technical requirements.
  2. Lead the development of new or existing product in the innovation projects according to the agreed timeline.
  3. Evaluate & validate new product solutions in relevant product aspects such as consumer acceptance, product performance, consistent product quality and manufacturability.
  4. Establish and manage product specifications, incl. quality specification, ViPP, relevant targets, methods and tolerances for the selected parameters.
  5. Actively work to identify and patent new product design solutions and features.
  6. Identify the needs for new laboratory method development.
  7. Provide idea, support and overseeing the value engineering and quality improvements activities.
  8. Continuously improve self-competency, understanding and knowledge in relevant technical area(s) in terms of Vinda’s and competitor products, IP, technologies, materials as well as market and industry trends.
  9. Ensure alignment with key stakeholders within the assigned product scope of projects and activities. Able to work with cross functional team.
  10. Work as the project leader in the assigned enabling projects.
  11. Act & perform other duties as assigned within organization.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • At least 4 years of working experience, preferably in FMCG business. Ideally experience from both Product Development / R&D and Quality operations.
  • Basic product design and development capabilities and skills.
  • Degree in Science / Engineering from recognized university.
  • Good knowledge in product, material, process, technologies, materials, laboratories testing and product quality. Should understand how product components and materials work together both functionally and aesthetically.
  • Basic knowledge in the product development process from consumer insight or business needs to launch, incl. working processes & tools related to product development, e.g., patents, Six Sigma etc.
  • Able to understand stakeholder requirements and work well with them.
  • Action oriented person and pursues everything with energy, drive and a need to finish, can effectively cope with change and shift gears comfortably.
  • Acts with consumers in mind. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Uses logic, tools and methods to solve difficult problems/issues with effective solutions.
  • Creative skills or creativity is also central to this role. Should have interest and thinking to conceptualize new products, improve product design, features & constructions and eventually determine the right product solution.
  • Good knowledge in quality management system and quality tools.
  • Proficient in communication skills including presentation.
  • Knowledgeable in planning, time management and task prioritization.
  • Good Microsoft Office knowledge – especially in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
