We are seeking a skilled and experienced Information Security Specialist with a minimum of 5 years of experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing our data protection strategy and its implementation to ensure compliance with data protection regulations. This role is critical to safeguarding the privacy and integrity of our data, and this role will work closely with various departments to promote best practices in data protection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Protection Compliance: Ensure the organization complies with regulatory requirements and best practices concerning data protection.
  • Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies and procedures.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular data protection impact assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate staff on data protection principles and practices.
  • Incident Management: Manage and report data breaches and incidents in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Data Subject Rights: Ensure that data subject requests related to their rights are handled in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaboration: Work with IT, registry, and other relevant teams to ensure data protection measures are integrated into all processes.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present reports on data protection activities and compliance status to senior management.
  • Act as the organization Data Protection Officer

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Data Science, Law or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification in data protection is a plus.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a data protection role. Past roles in Education industry will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of data protection laws and practices of Malaysia.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
