Job Overview:

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all activities, projects, and personnel within the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Departments. The role involves managing all aspects of M&E engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and meeting technical standards. The Senior GM will lead the team, maintain client relationships, and drive business growth in the M&E sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership & Strategic Management:
  • Advise and review with the Executive Director to provide strategic direction and operational management for the M&E division.
  • Lead and mentor the M&E team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and professional development.
  • Drive alignment between the M&E division and broader organizational goals, ensuring seamless coordination with other departments.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  1. Project & Bid Management:
  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of M&E engineering projects, ensuring quality, cost control, and timely delivery.
  • Manage the bidding process for new projects, including preparing competitive tenders, technical submissions, and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with the business development team to identify key opportunities for new projects and partnerships.
  • Ensure bid proposals align with client needs and regulatory standards while securing profitable contracts.
  • Participate in client negotiations to ensure favorable terms and successful project kickoffs.
  1. Financial & Operational Oversight:
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the division's budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Lead financial planning for all M&E projects, monitoring costs, and implementing corrective measures when necessary.
  • Collaborate with finance and legal teams to review contractual agreements and ensure legal compliance.
  • Manage engineering project lifecycles, including cost analysis, scheduling, and resource planning.
  1. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all M&E systems comply with local and international regulations.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Provide technical direction to the team to meet high standards in quality control and safety.
  • Endorse and sign off on engineering drawings in compliance with regulatory standards.
  1. Client Engagement & Business Development:
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for high-level project discussions.
  • Lead the development of new business proposals, bids, and presentations to potential clients.
  • Identify emerging trends and business opportunities in the M&E industry to expand the company’s market presence.
  • Negotiate contracts, ensuring both client satisfaction and company profitability.
  1. Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
  • Promote innovation within the M&E division by staying updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices.
  • Implement initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the division, encouraging teams to adopt new tools, techniques, and methodologies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in M&E engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within an engineering consultancy.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate (PEPC) license with authority to endorse engineering drawings.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale M&E projects from conception to completion.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
  • Ability to drive business development and identify growth opportunities.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, codes, and standards.
