The Job

The Junior Procurement & Production Engineer will be responsible for supporting both the procurement and production teams. The role involves sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery, and assisting with the production planning and execution processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of supply chain principles, production processes, and engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement:

  • Assist in sourcing and selecting suppliers for raw materials, components, and equipment.
  • Review and evaluate supplier proposals, lead times, and cost structures.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain and update a database of approved suppliers, including monitoring their performance and compliance.
  • Monitor order status, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure materials meet required specifications.

Production:

  • Assist in the development of production plans, schedules, and workflows to ensure efficient and timely production.
  • Support in tracking production metrics (efficiency, quality, lead time) and preparing reports for management.
  • Coordinate with the production team to identify potential bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the manufacturing process.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement to ensure raw materials are available for production.
  • Participate in troubleshooting issues on the production floor and provide technical support when necessary.

General:

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in both procurement and production processes.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, logistics, and finance, to streamline processes.
  • Assist in implementing continuous improvement initiatives in procurement and production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in procurement, supply chain, or production engineering.
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles, supply chain processes, and production workflows.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CAD Sofware (Fushion 360, Solidworks, Autocad, etc)
