Primary Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
1. Leading regulatory engagements and ensuring compliance with mandatory reporting requirements with relevant regulators and relevant internal and external stakeholders;
2. Understand and be able to consider and advise on maintaining adequate systems, processes and controls to identify risks in relation to persons, countries, business relationships and activities, and to:
i. establish the AML and compliance framework
ii. review transaction monitoring alerts or sanctions alert escalated
iii. present any updates or key findings to the Senior Management
iv. review and file any Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR)
v. develop AML/CFT Policies and Procedures
vi. develop and conduct relevant risk assessments
3. Advising on payments / financial services regulatory matters, and assisting in the development and implementation of new products, features, and businesses lines. For example - Assessing AML/CFT risks when business decisions are made and demonstrating consideration to safeguard the firm's reputation;
4. Providing timely and quality regulatory advice for negotiations on strategic, complex and high value agreements;
5. Developing and implementing Group AML initiatives in-country, including – technology risk management, business continuity management, outsourcing, consumer protection, and AML/CFT policies in line with local regulatory expectations and requirements;
6. Incident management (e.g. responding to regulatory investigations / inspections by authorities / assisting in PR incident responses/ submission of STRs);
7. Preparing for, and managing, audits and inspections by relevant regulators;
8. Localizing and implementing Group-wide AML programs and training for internal stakeholders;
9. Being the in-country champion in driving a culture of AML compliance;
10. Provide training on regulatory compliance and AML/CFT matters.
11. Other additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
1. At least 8 years of AML or consulting experience
2. Ideal candidate would have a mix of (i) regulatory or banking experience, (ii) prior in-house experience in the payments sector (preferably a licensed e-money / wallet operator in Malaysia), and (iii) private practice experience in big4 consulting / advisory firms
3. Extensive experience interacting with regulators, particularly with BNM in compliance & AML matters preferred
4. Able to build AML and compliance framework from ground up and see to implementation, and able to articulate AML and compliance concepts clearly to non-compliance stakeholders;
5. Relevant AML or related certifications from an accredited organization (such as ACAMS, ICA) will be a plus
6. Critical thinking and analysis with strong attention to detail
7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment where ambiguity and change is the norm
8. Fluent in English, Chinese will be a plus
