Job Overview:
As the Head of Federal Government Sales, you will lead a team responsible for driving growth and developing strategic relationships within the federal government sector. You will play a critical role in crafting and executing sales strategies, securing key government contracts, and ensuring long-term business value. This role requires a deep understanding of government procurement processes, regulatory requirements, and the technology needs of public sector clients.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership:
- Lead the development and execution of annual and long-term business plans for the federal government sales segment, aligned with the company's overall strategy.
- Identify, develop, and implement strategic initiatives to drive revenue growth and market share within the federal government sector.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to craft customized business models and cases for government tenders, partnerships, and new project opportunities.
- Build and nurture relationships with key government stakeholders, decision-makers, and partners to ensure a strong presence in the federal market.
Business Development & Opportunity Management:
- Drive business development efforts by exploring new synergies, partnerships, and opportunities within the federal government space.
- Lead and manage the entire sales cycle for federal government contracts, from identifying opportunities to proposal development, negotiations, and deal closure.
- Track industry trends, government policies, competitor activities, and market developments to anticipate opportunities and challenges.
Program Management & Departmental Collaboration:
- Act as a Project Management Office (PMO) for departmental matters, ensuring key initiatives are on track and aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate with other departments, including product development, legal, finance, and technical teams, to ensure the successful delivery of government projects and contracts.
- Provide leadership in managing government regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and contract terms.
Market Intelligence & Competitor Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of the federal government market, including policy changes, competitor activities, and emerging technology trends, to inform strategic decision-making.
- Develop and present market insights to senior leadership, advising on potential opportunities, risks, and growth areas within the public sector.
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, IT, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in telecommunications or IT sales, with a proven track record in managing federal government accounts.
- Demonstrated ability in technical sales management and government procurement processes.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior government stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities, with experience in leading high-performing sales teams.
- High level of self-discipline, motivation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong understanding of federal government regulations, procurement policies, and public sector IT requirements.
- Proficiency in managing large, complex government contracts and tendering processes.
