The Role

We are seeking to engage a Senior Analyst – Market Intelligence for our Energy Transition Team in Malaysia. You’ll join a will join a dynamic analyst team, contributing to the development of market intelligence, analysis of industry dynamics, and identification of strategic opportunities to ensure effective project execution.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead market intelligence efforts and studies on current energy market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements
  • Collaborate with the solutions and optimisation teams to structure energy-related problems into quantifiable analyses
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that address clients' strategic and operational needs
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their business objectives, challenges, and opportunities within the energy sector
  • Lead client engagements, cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business opportunities
  • Gather and organise global energy data, consolidating information to enhance fundamental knowledge of supply and demand
  • Develop market intelligence for the energy market, providing in-house perspectives to support the team
  • Utilise collected data to conduct ARIMA, Monte Carlo simulations, and other advanced modeling techniques to forecast economic and market growth, analyze pricing trends, and assess other pertinent factors
  • Produce insightful industry analyses, including assessments of growth potential, competitive forces, substitution threats, value chain mapping, and innovation trends
  • Identify and engage with potential partners, sub-consultants, and external service providers to collaborate on project opportunities, and develop a network of strategic partners for future collaboration
  • Identify strategic opportunities to enhance competitiveness, leverage strengths, and capitalise on emerging industry trends
  • Synthesise research findings into compelling written deliverables, including drafting industry positioning reports or energy transition planning reports
  • Present analysis outcomes, strategic insights, and recommendations to key stakeholders
  • Assess analytical tools (software), subscriptions, publications, data sources, and databases, and provide recommendations based on the team's requirements and objectives

About You

Suitable applicants will be/have:

  • Degree in Business/Economics or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in market research and analysis, ideally within an Energy Transition Consulting environment
  • Possess a strong understanding of energy transition and decarbonisation fundamentals. Previous experience in relevant projects is preferred
  • Proficient in both English and Mandarin in order to effectively converse with our diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in forecasting tools and techniques, along with expertise in data visualisation
  • Extensive experience in performing market and financial analysis using methods such as regression analysis, AHP, MCDA, and other relevant analytical techniques
  • Broad exposure to analytical tools, database building, insights generation, and related processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and with external stakeholders
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to synthesise research into clear, logical deliverables
  • Ability to manage project teams, oversee multiple projects, and handle concurrent priorities effectively
  • Candidate should be highly driven, possess strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex quantitative and qualitative data, and display agility and creativity in resolving issues
