About the job

In this role your responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Local HR Responsibility & Ownership

  • Responsible for all HR related matters (HR Partnering, HR Development, Compensation & Benefits, Payroll) in an efficient and effective way for entire GBS Penang (150FTE).
  • Executes HR processes according to guidelines within the location in conjunction with relevant HR Operations teams in Global Business Services.
  • Implements global people strategy on a local level and executes and maintains local people policies.
  • Drives continuous improvement agenda leveraging on best practices across borders as part of a virtual team.
  • Ensure adherence to national labor laws, regulations, and agreements, while fostering positive relationships with authorities regarding work permits for foreign employees.
  • Design and support in arranging the development trainings for employees as per organizational needs.
  • Manage HR budget for GBS Penang center.

Business Partnering Activities

  • Acts as trusted partner, the point of contact, advises line managers on HR related topics and acts as an ambassador for the People strategy, interacting effectively with the business always seeking solutions and inputting ideas.
  • Coaches and guides Line Managers, in the location in the provision of credible and commercial solutions for people related organizational matters.
  • Drives the local implementation of the Equality, Diversity & inclusion journey, wellbeing activities and other topics from the HR strategy.

Employee Relations

  • Responsible for the management of all employee relations for of the location, in a trusted and authentic manner.
  • Acts as gatekeeper and decision maker for critical cases of the case management system and drives consistency and risk management for the organization.
  • Ensure legal compliance and Business de-risking in conjunction with GBS Centers teams.

HR Operational efficiency

  • Drives/supports the performance of the Service Level Agreements with external partners, secures the integration of new processes, programs, tools services and guarantees compliance with local legislation and labor law.
  • Ensures the delivery of People processes in the organization are constantly improved and consolidated.
  • Ensures HR activities of the Employee Life Cycle are aligned with business objectives, legal framework and in line with the regional and global HR strategy.

About you

We are looking for a unique and amazing talent, who brings along the following:

  • Demonstrated experience of 5+ years in a similar role within an international setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • International HR experience (legislation and exposure) and experience within a Shared Service Centre or a Global Business Services environment is a preference.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen and judgement with experience of working within a demanding, competitive, commercial environment.
  • Accomplished HR practitioner with significant track record operating across the HR spectrum demonstrating a sound knowledge of leading HR principles, practices and the application in meeting business requirements.
  • Strong collaborator.
  • Fluency in English in speaking and writing, any additional language skills are beneficial.
