• Microwave Network Design & Planning: o Lead the planning and design of microwave transmission links to support the 5G RAN and core network, ensuring scalability and high-performance for 5G backhaul requirements. o Conduct link budget analysis, path surveys, and design to optimize performance metrics such as capacity, latency, and availability. o Evaluate and select appropriate microwave technologies (e.g., licensed and unlicensed bands, millimeter-wave) that align with the overall network architecture. • Microwave Deployment: o Oversee the deployment and commissioning of microwave links for the 5G network expansion, including site installation, antenna alignment, and testing. o Coordinate with vendors, field engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless execution of microwave transmission installations. o Ensure timely completion of site installations, testing, and integration into the wider network. • Network Optimization & Performance: o Monitor and optimize microwave link performance to ensure it meets 5G network KPIs such as bandwidth, latency, and reliability. o Conduct periodic maintenance and upgrades on microwave equipment to ensure maximum network uptime. o Implement redundancy and failover strategies to ensure the resilience of the microwave network, minimizing downtime. • Project Management: o Manage the microwave transmission aspect of the 5G rollout project, ensuring that timelines, costs, and quality standards are met. o Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., RAN, core network, transport) to integrate microwave backhaul seamlessly with the broader network infrastructure. o Identify project risks, propose mitigation plans, and ensure all microwave deployment milestones are delivered on time. • Vendor & Equipment Management: o Collaborate with microwave equipment vendors (e.g., Ceragon, NEC, Ericsson, Huawei) for equipment selection, procurement, and technical support. o Ensure vendors comply with agreed specifications, timelines, and quality standards during the rollout and maintenance phases. o Oversee site acceptance and ensure that all equipment meets regulatory and safety standards. • Team Leadership: o Lead and mentor a team of microwave engineers, providing technical guidance and ensuring the development of critical skills for 5G transmission. o Act as a primary point of contact for troubleshooting complex microwave network issues and escalations. • Documentation & Reporting: o Maintain accurate records of microwave design documents, deployment plans, and as-built diagrams. o Generate detailed technical reports on project progress, network performance, and optimization results for senior management and stakeholders. Key Requirements: • Education: o Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field. • Experience: o 7+ years of experience in microwave transmission network design, deployment, and optimization, with at least 3 years focused on 4G/5G network backhaul. o Strong hands-on experience with high-capacity microwave systems, including millimeter-wave technology. o Proven track record in managing large-scale microwave deployment projects in telecom networks. • Technical Skills: o Proficiency in microwave transmission technologies, including IP/MPLS, Ethernet backhaul, and E-band/ V-band systems. o Expertise in link budget analysis, path loss calculations, and performance monitoring tools (e.g., Pathloss, iQlink, NetAct). o In-depth knowledge of frequency planning, interference management, and regulatory compliance for microwave spectrum. o Strong understanding of SDN/NFV technologies and their integration with traditional microwave systems. • Soft Skills: o Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple workstreams in parallel. o Strong leadership and communication skills to manage internal teams and collaborate with external stakeholders. o Analytical problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve complex microwave issues. Preferred Qualifications: • Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or relevant transmission/microwave certifications. • Experience working with microwave equipment from major vendors • Familiarity with hybrid back-haul solutions (microwave/fiber) and evolving technologies like 5G NR and edge computing.
