Responsible for ensuring the electrical systems and equipment on board are safe, functional, and compliant with the relevant standards and regulations. This includes installing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical wiring, fixtures, panels, generators, motors, batteries, and other components on various types of vessels and platforms. You must also perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment. Additionally, you must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and manuals in order to plan and execute electrical projects and tasks. Also be comfortable using various tools, instruments, and devices to measure, cut, strip, solder, crimp, and connect electrical wires and cables. It is important to follow safety procedures and protocols to prevent electrical shocks, fires, and accidents. Lastly, you should document and report electrical work issues and solutions.
