Role and Responsibilities Teaching 1. Intensive English Programme (IEP) o Teach international students with low language proficiency (CEFR levels A2 to low B1) o Plan and execute customised lessons for the students to prepare them for the IELTS or MUET examinations (target score: IELTS 5.5; MUET ) o Note: The role-holder will have jurisdiction over the content and duration of instruction with the approval of the Deputy Dean. 2. IELTS Preparatory Classes o Assess the entry-level proficiency of students signing up for this course. o Recommend a preparatory programme plan based on entry level proficiency and expected/required target level in IELTS. o Plan and execute customised lessons for the students to prepare them for the IELTS examination as per the required target. o Note 1: The current structure is to provide 2 hours of instructions a day of 4 to 8 sessions in one or two weeks. Occasionally, students may only require support in certain components of the IELTS. Classes may be one-on-one basis. o Note 2: Costing and fee structure is to be managed by CPDC upon advice by the Dean and Deputy Dean 3. Overseas Teaching o Plan and execute customised lessons for the students as part of QELC’s commitment to increase the proficiency level of students from China. o Provide training on English language pedagogy for English language instructors in China o Note: This involves travelling to China and conducting classes of up to 6 hours a day between 2–3-week periods. You may be accompanied by one junior staff from QELC. The Dean and Deputy Dean may also be involved in the trainings. Workload and Scheduling • Expected teaching load is a minimum of 15 hours per week without any administrative responsibilities and 9 hours per week with administrative responsibilities. • The core teaching duties are in IEP, IELTS preparatory classes and other assigned classes for overseas students. • Classes will be conducted both in face-to-face and online mode. • Certain classes will be held in the evenings (online classes with students from China) for duration of up to 3 hours). The instructor will have the option to: 1. Work at the Centre in the morning and leave at 2 pm to teach from home, or 2. Arrive at the Centre at 1 pm and deliver classes from the facility
