Accountant

The Accountant's mission-critical tasks are to: - Ensure recorded transactions are recorded in the proper accounting period. - Ensure recorded transactions are reconciled to supporting documentation and accounting system (includes ledgers, sub-ledgers, and ancillary apps). - Ensure recorded transactions fit into the appropriate transaction cycles (e.g. proper recording, authorization, reconciliation, and monitoring). Duties: General - Competency with accounting transactions cycles (e.g. cash disbursements, cash receipts) - Competency with managing and prioritizing work assignments. - Competency with the recording of journal entries with supporting documentation. - Competency with account analysis. - Maintain synchronization between all integrated systems to ensure they remain reconciled. General Accounting - Review and provide guidance to Bookkeepers on coding of transactions. - Maintain the chart of accounts. - Prepare account analysis. - Prepare financial statements. - Prepare account analysis on an ad-hoc basis. Accounts Payable - Review coding of vendor invoices and debit memos for accuracy and authorization routing. - Review and analyze accounts payable aging reports. Investigate variances as needed. Payroll - Record payroll journal entries or ensure payroll integration with accounting systems are working properly. - Reconcile payroll journals to accounting system. Accounts Receivable - Review sales invoices for proper accuracy. - Review and analyze accounts receivable aging reports. Investigate variances as needed. Periodic Close - Prepare and analyze general ledger reconciliations. - Review and analyze monthly bank reconciliations. - Review and analyze fixed assets ledger report. - Prepare and record manual and repeating journal entries. - Prepare and analyse management reporting package.
