Job Purpose
Responsible for the accurate and timely monthly accounts closing of Investment Linked (IL) Funds and preparation of the Company’s regulatory / statistical reports to Bank Negara Malaysia (“BNM”).
The Job
- To monitor and close the monthly investment accounts for IL and Life Funds.
- Prepare the monthly BNM ICSS return, statistical reports e.g. Statement of Investment Position (IIP), Statement of Overseas Account (OA), Statement of Inter Company Account (IA), and any other regulatory reports as assigned.
- Prepare the Company’s Risk Based Capital (RBC) computation.
- To assist in the preparation of the Investment Linked (IL) financial statements by the prescribed timeline
- Prepare the daily Investment Linked funds cash flow transfer and review the daily IL Net Asset Value (NAV) from custodian bank.
- Prepare Group's Insurance Capital Standard (ICS) statistical returns by the timeline stipulated by Group
- Prepare Risk Based Capital computation based on Singapore's MAS 133, Notice on Valuation and Capital Framework for Insurers (RBC2).
- Prepare the consolidated financial statements for the Company's holding company, Great Eastern Capital Sdn Bhd (GEC).
- Prepare the monthly and quarterly consolidation pack for OCBC reporting and half-yearly GEH reporting pack by deadlines as prescribed by Group finance.
- Prepare the computation of the quarterly provision for Expected Credit Loss (ECL) for corporate loans measured at amortised cost and FVOCI fixed income securities based on MFRS 9
- Prepare bank reconciliations for Citibank investment bank accounts (local and foreign) and investment accounts for IL funds and reconciliation of Eagle system. Ensure all reconciliation items are cleared within 1 month.
- Perform annual review/update on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Review Financial Reporting Standards (MFRSs) that are relevant to the Company’s functions and its impact on the Company’s financial statement.
- Assist in coordinating the Company’s Related Party Transactions (RPT) reporting and prepare regulatory and Group reports in relation to RPT.
- Assist Assistant Vice President (AVP) and Manager in any other duties as and when required
- Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company
- Highlight any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practice.
Our Requirements
- Tertiary qualification with a recognised local or oversea university or full qualification in Professional Accounting (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, MICPA, ICAEW).
- At least 3 to 4 years working experiences in a financial institution preferably life insurance or established audit firm.
- Proficient in the Financial Reporting Standards and its applications to financial statements.
- Familiar with a computerised accounting environment and be conversant with personal computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
- Key knowledge: Financial Systems, Oracle Financial System (OFIN), TM1 system, BNM ICSS, FPMS, Life Asia and MBS 400, BNM’s guidelines, Financial Reporting Standards.
- Competencies: Problem solving, interpersonal skills, financial accouting and reporting, financial procedure and regulations, financial transaction processing, analytics and numeracy, passion for excellence, proactiveness, analytical thinking, concerns for order and quality, teamwork and cooperation.
