The Librarian is responsible for managing library resources and services, promoting literacy, and ensuring that the library is a welcoming space for all patrons. This role involves curating collections, providing research assistance, and implementing library programs to enhance patron engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Library administrative
- Handle library daily tasks such as checking out library materials, receiving returns, and determining outstanding materials.
- Oversees and trains patrons to return books and library materials.
- Locates and recommend books or other reference materials for patrons.
- Liaise with ICT personnel to ensure the functionality and usability of computers in library regularly.
- Prepares purchase requests, orders supply, and upon delivery, processes and distributes supplies and materials throughout the library.
- Assist procurement activities of materials with vendor and maintain records for payment of invoices (liaise with account department).
- Prepare reports.
- Implementation of descriptive cataloging for library collections and materials.
- Preparing library programs and activities.
- Managing budgeting and planning library resources.
2. Provide effective access to library collections and resources
- Maintain collections management policies and procedures.
- Provide service to student on accessing the books on shelves.
- Managing book stock checking at the end of year (sometimes biannually).
- Rearrange and creating sections for new and existing collections.
3. Maintain the organization of library materials
- Ensure accuracy of resources inventory, compile statistics and generate reports as required.
- Ensure efficiency retrieval process by users.
- Search external database programs for the availability of cataloguing copy (cataloguing utility).
4. Provide library services in response to the information needs of library users
- Respond to daily on-site requests for information.
- Train library users to effectively search the Library catalogue, e-books (Eplatform), Internet and other electronic resources available in the library.
- Maintain the preparation of circulation files, records and statistics.
- Liaise with teacher on teachers’ book request.
- Assist parents/guardian on the book loan by their children/charge.
Inter-Departments:
- Support admin department when needed.
Events (Internal):
- Involved in school events.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Events (External):
- Involved in books selection events and fair.
Suppliers/Vendors:
- Liaise with RICOH for printer issue and toner replacement.
- Liaise with library suppliers (books, e-books, magazines, equipment, etc.).

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
